Friends call me Betty, and I am in the autumn of my life… with winter closing in.
Life’s greatest gift to me has been the abundance of good health. Yet all too often, not unlike many of us, I am affected by family & friends who suffer immensely, either directly or indirectly, because of Cancer. It eludes me how in year 2006 when so many cures for other devastating plagues and diseases have been found, mankind continues struggling to find the key to the cancer dilemma.
Abdicating the responsibility to someone else to find the cure is the easy way. I believe so strongly that only through the unification of our resources will the long awaited breakthrough be accomplished.
What that means to me, is that while I still have time, my mission is to symbolically unify the world through the Hope Bands and exponentially magnify the research dollars required to unlock the door to the cure. At the same time, just for a moment, consider the strength and support that will be provided to the people we care deepest about.
Each day I am inspired and propelled by my team to promote the Hope Bands, not only in our Canadian domain but also, throughout the world. While one might say that the task of unifying the world through the Hope Band is daunting, so also we must realize that the disease is daunting and it is only with the synergy of all can we ever hope to find the cure.
I want to thank my team from the bottom of my heart for their capacity to believe in my mission.
Without their selfless contribution to the Hope Band mission, none of this would be possible.
Most of all I will forever be grateful to my mentor Michael Lenhardt for his relentless encouragement and unwavering belief in my ability to make a difference in a way that will affect those who are suffering today and to those who will never have to know grief associated with this disease of the past.
